Another (VitaMix) Bites the Dust

Folks…it’s happened again. 3rd time is not a charm. It wasn’t better the second or third time around.

My Vitamix (a.k.a “Mighty Vity”) has broken down. Again. For the third time in less than four years.

*sad face*

And it’s the same problem again. Motor is going, nothing is happening. Just the poor makings of a smoothie, not quite combined, not quite perfect.

Fare-thee well my dear. Until we meet again.
Fare-thee well my dear. Until we meet again.

I’m not going to lie: I’m extremely frustrated by this. After 2 repairs, the problem should be fixed. For what one of these bad-boys costs, it shouldn’t break down, on average, once per year. But here we are. Shipping the blender back to be repaired. We’ll have it back in a few weeks with a new motor. By this point, my blender is boarding on bionic-status with all the fixes and new parts it’s been given.

I should give some credit to the excellent customer service I’ve been getting in each instance of the repair. They’ve confirmed that I’m not doing anything wrong with the blender and that I’m taking good care of it. They’ve never hassled me or anything of the sort and do their best to assure me that they problem will be looked at and fixed.

I’m starting to see why they have such a long warranty attached to them (mine just got “extended” to 2018). These blenders break down…a lot. I’m not sure if other brands are the same or not but this is definitely a sore spot for me because I love my blender and I don’t spend that kind of money lightly. Maybe my expectations are too high. I can’t say for sure.

Either way, here we are, sans Mighty for another few weeks. I have back up blenders but nothing high powered to handle what I like to make. I’ll make due for sure but I definitely have to wonder.

Now I’m off to go look longingly out the window for the FedEx truck to reunite me with my precious cargo.
