Aaaaahhhh recovery week. This is one that I definitely needed. After Lemming Loop last weekend, my legs were fried. I could barely get out of bed Sunday morning. My calves were screaming at me and my hips were not willing to move. I was a sight to behold. Stairs were most definitely not my friend that day.
Thankfully, by Monday, my hips and calves felt better. My calves are still tight and need tons of rolling but I can walk. The only thing that’s not feeling great is my right foot. Odd because my feet didn’t bother me at all the entire day but boy did that change after a night of rest. I *think* I’ve aggravated my plantar fascia because it feels similar to what I had a few months ago. Not surprising. My legs are super tight, I increased my mileage by about a thousand percent in that race (I ran 24 miles when I haven’t run more than 8 in over 2 years…and that was 2 years ago!). Lesson learned. This now means I have to be smart about my 10K next weekend. I know I’ll likely not be able to run other than a few test miles to see how the foot feels but if I’m still uncomfortable/in pain, maybe I won’t be able to run the race. Boo! But I know that any kind of pain is never a good thing and I don’t have the time or desire to be sidelined for longer than necessary. We shall see.
As for me, next week is a new phase of training (and the last one before my 1 year anniversary at Fukumoto! Oh how things have changed!) which means back to coaching for me! I feel really rusty after missing almost all of week 4 with sickness and now being through recovery week. So naturally, the nerves are showing themselves again but I know after a few sessions of getting back into it, they’ll go away. I’m really excited to see where I can take my coaching this phase. I have an awesome team helping get me prepped and I’m so ready to bring it!! I’m also excited to try out this phase’s workouts for myself too. Definitely going to be setting some goals for myself!!
