Fukumoto Friday: Week 45

Happy Friday! We’ve had a crazy week as the first of many bugs hit our home. Slowly, one by one, we have all come down with aches, pains, sore throats and stuffy noses. I fell victim on Wednesday and felt kind of gross. I hate sore throats. I was doing some of my coaching training and boy, if it isn’t hard to project a softer voice at the best of times, when it catches in your throat every time you talk…oy! I just wanted to paint honey on my throat to soothe it. I was feeling better Thursday morning but by the afternoon, I was fried. Just in time for the baby to come down with it. Poor girl was not happy and in no mood to be comforted, or put down. This made things a bit awkward but we survived.

I’ll admit, this phase is over at the end of next week and I didn’t make any goals for my workouts. This is something I like to do every phase in some way but with starting the coaching development program and trying to take in a lot of information, insight and learn a very awesome, but tough job, on top of studying for my Personal Training Specialist exams (both of which I passed!! Yahoo!!) didn’t leave me a lot of time to think about my own workouts. In some ways, I feel like I cheated myself our of an opportunity to challenge myself more specifically but at the same time, I’m surrounded by other challenges so I feel like I can let this one go for this phase. My plate was pretty full and not looking to get any less for the coming months. It’s definitely a blessing and as hard as some of the days have been, I know I’m in the right place and that I can only get better and have an awesome team standing behind me, supporting me to do just that. It’s a pretty cool place to be.

So that said, I’ve still worked hard and have had my fair share of soreness from rounds of weighted split squats, pushups (getting better baby!) and FINALLY doing an unassisted chin-up!! Whooooooo. They aren’t pretty but I can do exactly one. Most of the time. It’s a start and if I keep at it, one will become two and then three.

The place where goals get eaten!
The place where goals get eaten!

I’ve also signed up for 3 races that have me super excited but I’ll save all that for another post because there is some serious epicness (or perhaps stupidity) ready to happen there. I’m pumped!
