Fukumoto Friday: Week 40

This has felt like a recovery week. I guess in a way it was. Dirty Donkey was on the weekend so I crammed in all my training earlier last week and saved this week’s for the end. Good thing, my calf is giving me grief again. It’s such a slippery slope! As soon as I figure I’ll sign up for a fall race, it gets angry and I wonder if I’ll be able to train for it! we’ll see when I go for a test run over the weekend.

Otherwise, the quiet of the week has been kinda nice. Lots of time to recover from the race but I’m also really sad that I now have to wait until next summer to do another obstacle race. I never thought I’d see the day and yet I’m in mourning because I want another crack at a Spartan. I even found myself watching a Spartan Super on You Tube the other day and thinking “I need to up my running game but I could do that distance…” I’d post a link but there were a number of F-bombs throughout. Or maybe I can’t find the link. Either way…Just goes to show you what a difference 40 weeks can make.

Next week is recovery week followed by member appreciation week which promises to be exciting! So it’ll be another two weeks before we get into our first phase of the fall season. But fear not…the hills shall live on! I’m going to try and keep hill training through the fall on the weekends and have recruited some awesome ladies to join me! I’m so excited! And by excited, I mean anticipating a lot of my own f-bombs on the hill. It’s the part of my week I love to hate. But it makes me better so I gotta keep getting after it. Especially if I want my running to get better.
