Fukumoto Friday: Week 29

This bad boy was my nemesis on Tuesday:

Up and down and around and around.
Up and down and around and around.

A couple of months ago, I signed up for the Dirty Donkey mud run, figuring it would be a fun little obstacle course to do during the summer. I also decided to sign up for some obstacle course racing training through Fukumoto Fitness as an added bonus to get me outside doing other stuff one night a week. I was pumped.

Somewhere along the way, I ended up signing up for a Spartan Race which takes place in 5 weeks. I have no idea what I was thinking but I guess there’s no turning back. Spartan race was nice enough to hook me up with a free entry (thanks guys!!) so I guess if I die on the course, my hubby won’t be left with the bill. In all seriousness, I’ve been assured that I can, in fact do this. I’m holding these people to it.

So Tuesday about 10 of us met up at our local (and only) hill. And simply put: we ran up and down it. A lot. Now, I’m sure there are much steeper hills out there in hilly land, but for this prairie girl, who lives in pancake valley, this was a pretty big hill. I figured I’d last a couple of rounds up and down and then vomit and pray for my quick and immediate death. It’s possible I was feeling a bit dramatic that day…Anyhoo, I made it up and down 2 times, then 3, then 4 and on and on. I freaking owned that hill. Every last one of us did. We dominated as a team and it was…dare I say it…fun! I had no idea I had it in me. I was tired for sure but I was able to get up that hill every. single. time. AND I had some left in the tank after that if I had to…I could have done a couple more rounds (just don’t tell coach that…next week may be a different story). It was awesome! I felt so strong!

And then I just wanted to eat all the things after.

The only aftermath was a bit of butt ache (technical term) from pushing myself up the hill. Sweet! All in all, a great evening workout. I’m excited to hit it again next week.

My other big exciting goal thingy is that I finally did an unassisted pistol squat!! My first ever! Only on one side and I fell over quite dramatically on the other side but it was an accomplishment and now I want to get better at it! Perhaps two are in my future?! Rock on! I got over confident and tried to do a chin-up…womp, womp. No where near that…but goals…
