We had a great weekend! The weather? Beautiful! The kids? Well behaved! Me? Snuck out for a solo 5.5 mile run on Sunday morning. It was gorgeous out and I enjoyed every slow heart rate training step I took. It was awesome.
The only downside was that hubby was away most of the weekend at a work basket ball tournament. Not that this was bad because any time he does something like this, it gets him moving which is great for him but it was too bad he wasn’t home to take in the great weather with us.
The last week was a busy one with my oldest finishing preschool and some extra stuff we needed to get done (including learning how to use a new budgeting software to try and keep us on track. I’ll give you a moment to fan yourselves after taking in the excitement of this monumental event. I know…it’s a biggie. Try to contain your envy). The week flew by and now we’re into our summer vacation. This means, I have all 3 kids home with me each and every day for the next 3 months. Oh boy!
In a sense, I’m so relieved that school is over and I won’t be rushing to get everyone packed up and out the door but at the same time, I loved the way it broke up our days and made them go by a bit faster. If I had errands to run (like grocery shopping), it was so much easier to only have 2 kids with me. For the next 3 months, that won’t be the case. For the most part, my kids are very well behaved when we’re out so I’m kinda lucky that way. But let’s face it, being dragged around from store to store when you’re a kid is about as exciting as watching a documentary about running when you’re not me. My kids would rather sit in a corner and pick their nose (which they do with great enthusiasm, I might add). So what I’m saying here is that it could be interesting dragging them around with me, fingers in or out of nose.
What I am hoping for is a summer of outdoor fun! I’ve made a promise to myself to not be intimidated by the 3 vs 1 odds I have against me and get my kids out as much as I can. I know not every outing will be a success and tantrums will happen. Some may even be my kids…but if we don’t try, then we have a 100% chance of missing out on a fun summer together.
So without jumping too far ahead of myself, let’s just focus on this week for now. I’m hoping to get the kids to the park, lots of play time in the back yard and hopefully finding a small pool that will fit into our van to bring home and set up in the yard. I’m hoping to get out for a couple of runs and will be starting obstacle course training on Tuesday nights too. Fun!
Have a great week everyone!
