Welp…my first post-baby race is in the books. It didn’t go quite as planned but that’s not always a bad thing. All in all, it was a fantastic day. I had a lot of fun and aside from being undertrained, plagued with a couple of side stitches before I hit mile 1 (seriously body????) and a sore butt cheek (curse you glute fairy) that threatened to derail the last half of my run, it was blissful. More on that another day.
Last week was our last “calm” week. Starting this week, we are shoulder deep in commitments. Namely, soccer season. The next two months are full of soccer for our oldest, a different school schedule as preschool winds down at the end of the month and a few things on the agenda for yours truly (which I will finally talk more openly about next week…promise). Throw in a few appointments, a hunt for a new family doctor for me (booooo!) and May is going to be gone before I know it. It also means that I’ll likely forget about 50% of the things I need to get done on a daily basis. Like getting dressed in the morning or putting on a bra before leaving the house (totally acceptable in winter when heavy sweaters and jackets hide such sin…summer? Well it just gets awkward. But never awkward enough that I actually remember things…) But I digress…
This week will be more on the recovery side. Lots of rolling my tender arse, closing out this awesome phase at the gym and prepping for next weekend. I’d like to get a nice easy recovery run in but with our schedule this week, not sure if that’s going to happen. We will soon see.
For now, I’m going to enjoy watching my oldest play soccer, get in some good quality play time outside with my kids and start gearing up for summer! I’m loving the warm days and the sun shining on my face. It feels good!
Have a great week everyone!
