Fukumoto Friday: Week 24

So after last weekends awesome Kettlebell course, I pretty much spent the week eating everything put in front of me and sleeping 12 hours a night, dreaming of a wall of kettlebells in my basement….ok slight exaggeration. But not by much. The workouts this week have felt sooooo much harder. Like every 1st set felt like the 3rd set. I was told that I’d be feeling the after effects of the course for awhile and given the difficulty of this phase, I’m not surprised. I don’t think a day has gone by where I haven’t been sore or my muscles tired. It’s been great. I love the challenge of it.


Since we’re full on into our Burpees for Romania fundraiser, this week saw us add in an additional challenge. For a $2 donation, we get 90 seconds before class to bang out as many burpees as we can. All members who participate tally the total number of burpees and one day during recovery week, all our coaches will be splitting the total burpee count amongst themselves and matching our total. As of yesterday after class, I think our count was close to 2,500. It’s gonna get wild.

As for my fundraising efforts, I’m super stoked to say that I’ve met my goal! I still have a few weeks left and I’d love to add more to it but so far, I’m really happy and excited for the support I’ve gotten for this awesome cause. I’m going to start my own burpees on Monday. I was going to start them today but with my relay on Sunday, I’m doing my Saturday workout today and I’m sure there will be another set of pre-workout burpees (which don’t count, apparently. Boo). I need to pace myself, ha ha! They will get done, count on it.

Off to foam roll the crap out of my legs…again!

  1. That’s an insane amount of burpees! And all for a good cause too, which makes it even better! I should suggest a similar program to my own gym…

    • I think the idea is brilliant! I’d much rather do burpees than sell overpriced, oversized chocolate bars. Though, it would probably be easier to get a donation or two with chocolate!
