It’s entirely possible that I’m losing a bit of running motivation these days. I’m kind of in a rock/hard place right now. With heart rate training, I’m at peace with the slowness of my pace. But we’ve switched television providers and I can no longer watch TV on my phone so pounding out miles on the treadmill is downright excruciating right now. I know, I know…the struggle is real in this first world problem of mine but there it is. I am an outdoor runner. My heart is on the pavement and the trails, not a rickety old treadmill in a scary, dank basement with paneled walls and no ventilation. Day running isn’t an option with 3 kids at the ages mine are at and weekend running isn’t always a cinch either. Wah, wah, wah. Ok, enough of lamenting on my running woes.
I did run once last week on the ‘mill and it was good. My planned 5 miles did not happen on the weekend. Many factors involved in that. My relay is in just a couple of weeks. I’m not worried about the distance because I know I can run it but I feel some guilt about not being more diligent with my training. I’m also very thankful I didn’t commit to a half marathon. Hopefully by the summer, I’ll have a better idea of whether I can commit to training. And hopefully by then, we’ll be past freezing rain and snow and I can head out nice and early and run with the rising sun.
Last week, hubby and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary. Kinda blows my mind we’ve been married that long
and haven’t killed each other and are still learning new things daily about each other and what it means to be committed to another person. Like…whoa. We even got out for a date in a real restaurant, with real food and had real conversation. I didn’t know my brain still had it in me. We were also home by 8:30 because it’s been so long since we’ve had a date, we had no idea what to do with ourselves, ha ha! Apparently, we’re 80.
This week, I have 3 awesome workouts planned, that will hopefully not have me making mad love to my foam roller all day. I’m hoping to run a couple of times to keep my legs moving but I also need to start planning for some serious burpee output with the fundraiser I’m taking part in through my gym (more on that this week). Here’s a teaser to send you off into your Monday:
And finally, a big, huge, happy dancing cheer to everyone running Boston today!! A special shout-out to my dear friend, Rachel who is representing team Stonyfield and running her first (of many, I’m sure) Boston! Once day I hope to be with you guys conquering heartbreak hill! XOXO, I can’t wait to read all about it!
Have a great week everyone!
