Fukumoto Friday: Week 15


That’s kind of how I’ve summed up this week. Or, more accurately:

We've all had days...
We’ve all had days…

As I mentioned on Monday, this week was very topsy-turvy. With hubby writing a 6 (yes…6) HOUR exam on Tuesday night (someone bring that man some bourbon!), I changed my Tuesdayd workout this week to Monday. For the fellow runner’s out there: You know those really bad runs? The ones where your legs feel like they weigh about 3,000lbs, you’re heart feels like it’s going to stop beating and you wonder how the heck you ever ran a particular distance when you feel like you’re going to die before you even finish your first mile? I had one of those workouts on Monday. My word…I think I left my muscles at home. It. Was. Tough. Mentally and physically. It’s been a long time since I had a craptastic workout so I guess I was due. But I gave it my all so that’s what counts.

Tomorrow I finish up the phase and am hoping to nail those pistols! I can go partway down unassisted and mostly get myself back up. Not gonna lie, there is some very flamboyant arm flailing going on toward the end but I’m loving trying to do them without the TRX. I think I’ve found a new goal for myself :) That, and keep working on those pushups.

I also realized that I went through this entire phase without doing any burpees. Mwahahahahahaha!!! This of course means that when I get them next month, I will probably faint.

Next week is recovery week. So hoping to get to Joga on Wednesday. Fingers crossed baby-sitting works out! There’s a sandbag/Kettle bell extra class that I’d love to do but I have a functional movement re-assessment that same night. I think I’ll do better if my body isn’t dead (I’m reliving last month’s epic battle ropes gone wild right now…). Too bad because I really want to work on my swings and I love the sandbags. So versatile! I’m really hoping to see some big improvements from my initial assessment back in November. Wish me luck!

  1. I think I’d sum up the entire month this way! It’s a short month but it seems to have gone on forever. I share you pain on the bad runs. I’ve had more than my share of leaden legs lately. Here’s to nailing those pistol squats!
