Well after a busy week that saw my oldest return to school after winter break and start swimming lessons again, I was happy to see the weekend come. I had a couple of horrible nights of sleep and was dragging my butt about three feet behind the rest of me. One of the things I really try to make an effort in doing is not going to bed with a buzzing brain. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work and my brain gets the upper hand and races through the night. Such was the case this last week.
I did manage to get on the treadmill and do a home workout on top of my regular two days at the gym. I felt good after that. My 4 year old was very enthusiastic about playing “exercise” with me while I worked out. He’s got all the makings of a good trainer, though some of his exercises are a bit unconventional. Maybe he and I will be trainer’s together one day. Or is it still lame to work with your parents? First things first. I’ll let him finish preschool and get moving on my own path
The biggest bummer of the week was that after months of zero pain, my tendonitis flared in my knee again on Saturday. I’m not happy at all but what can you do? It’s here so I have to adjust in order to settle it down as quickly as possible. My first course if action will be to see my chiropractor for a Graston scraping (don’t be jealous). I may also try to get into a sports doctor for a reassessment. When I originally saw one way back when thus first happened, I was dismissed with my diagnosis very quickly with no action plan given. I’m hoping for more info this time at a different clinic. We’ll see.
So the plan for this week is rest, ice, stretch, roll, repeat. No running for at least a week and I’ll modify as needed at the gym. I’m hoping and praying that this is a minor setback. I don’t want to spend the next 5 months not running and in pain. Not to mention my bank account can’t handle months of therapy either.
Here’s hoping for an upswing to the leg drama and a good night’s rest!
