8 weeks already?! Wow. Time is definitely flying this time around. I’m not entirely sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing. I do feel like the Little Lady is changing daily and that it’s moving faster than I want it to. But then I remember that she’s now sleeping 6-7 hour stretches more nights than not and not up every 2 hours to eat and I’m grateful that the first rough weeks are behind me.
So how am I doing? Let’s dive in:
I’ve lost about 32 pounds, most of it gone within the first 3-4 weeks. If I don’t lose anymore, I’m perfectly happy with where my weight is at. I like that I lost it without crazy dieting or stress about it. It came off on it’s own just by doing what I do every day: eat as well as I can, indulge here and there (looking right at you Halloween candy) and just generally making good choices where I can. Like I said, it’s not about weight loss. That part, for me, is the easy part. It’s more about regaining my body and getting to know it all over again.
Speaking of which…
I still feel a bit weird in this post baby body of mine. Kind of like going through the awkward teenage phase again. I’m slowly getting used to it and trying to embrace it but some days are tough. I’ve
torched put away the few maternity items I’m keeping in case I get knocked up again as a “just in case” but I still don’t really fit into the majority of my own clothes. I can now pull my jeans up but they are a good couple of inches shy of being buttoned up. Thankfully, two clothing swaps later, I was able to find a couple of things that fit me as I am now so I have less of an excuse to leave the house in sweats every day. I think it’s going to be a bit of a mental battle because I want to look as good as I feel but that will come in time. I just have to remind myself of that. Because I really do feel good.
A great praise note is that my Restless Leg Syndrome is now completely resolved. I still had symptoms (to a much lesser extent) for about 5-6 weeks postpartum but now that my hormones are settling and I’m taking the right vitamin combination, I’m back to my version of normal.
As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve started running again and have decided to give heart rate training a try while I build my base back. That feels awesome and I’m so happy to be at that point where I can start exercising again. I start at my new gym in two weeks and I’m so excited to see some results and changes over the coming months.
This coming month, it’s going to be about getting back into a routine. The kids and I are mostly settled into our daily routine of preschool, playtime, nap time (except the baby…she still thinks napping is beneath her). Now I need to add in running and soon my gym workouts into the mix. It’s definitely a balancing act but I’m hoping we’ll all be able to continue adapting.
I’ve also decided not to post monthly belly pics because….well, it pretty much looks the same and likely will for the next few months. I’ll update every month with how I’m doing but the progress shots will be less frequent.
