Mayhem Monday: The beginning

Another week, another…uh…week gone by?

Last week was a real mixed bag of emotions. Dear friends of ours are dealing with a very tough situation and it’s breaking my heart in so many ways to see their pain and know there’s nothing, outside of prayer and support, that I can do to take that burden off their shoulders. It’s rough to see people you love hurting so freaking much.

Last week also saw me hit the 6 week postpartum mark which means that I’m a go to start lightly exercising. As anyone who knows me is well aware, this is my path to mental and physical sanity. Being restricted the last 6 weeks and more or less unable to really do much the prior weeks before the Little Lady joined our family has left me going a bit buggy in the brain. I was able to do my first ever Joga class as a local gym (more on that experience another day) which was both humbling and invigorating. I definitely have an upward battle to get back into shape but I’m so ready and excited to take it.

The weekend saw me getting out for a MUCH needed girl’s night, including a clothing swap, which is seriously the best idea ever. Good food, good wine, good friends and good (FREE) clothes are where it’s at people. No denying it. I managed to bring home a few new-to-me things that I will hopefully fit into in the coming months. And if I don’t…I’m not out any money. Win-win!

We had an absolutely beautiful weekend and we took full advantage to get out with the kids to the park for some energy discharge. I *may* have even done a wee bit of running with the boys while they “raced” around. We’re not talking epic return to running by any stretch but it felt good to pick up the pace for a minute here and there.

After a busy weekend, I’m a bit behind in food prepping so I’m going to have to get that done at some point. Thankfully, a dear friend brought us a meal on Friday that we’re just finishing the leftovers for so I feel a bit ahead of the game. Otherwise, the week is shaping up to be another busy one so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the Little Lady will keep getting better and more consistent with her sleep at night so that this Mama will have some extra zip to get everything done.

    • I never thought I’d ever need or want a waffle maker but man…I’m converted. My MIL bought me mine so I’d stop stealing hers. Make the Thrive energy recipe with the hot apple topping…droooooooooool!!!!

    • It’s kinda crazy. I definitely don’t think I’ll be able to pick up a running schedule as easily this time. It was much easier when all my kids napped but now that’s not the case. There’s only so much bribery I can do.

  1. Getting back to exercise was also one of my keys for getting ppd under control! Here’s to getting back to moving and to feeling great! Hope everything is going well with your new sweet little baby!
