Mayhem Monday: Surviving week 1

I did it! I survived week one of being on my own with all 3 kids. Surprisingly, it went really well. I guess when you expect the apocalypse, things can only be better. I managed to get Fit Boy to and from school, mostly on time all 3 days. I remembered to pack him a snack and best of all, I brought the right kid home. Excuse me while I pat myself on the back.

We were also blessed with having meals provided for us that lasted for the entire week. I didn’t have to cook a single dinner. Dang! I also got a great mom-gift from a great friend.

The unfortunate thing was that hubby got sick Friday night and was pretty much out of commission for the weekend. Not only was I really looking forward to having that second set of hands to help out, but I had to back out of a planned girls night that I was sooooo looking forward to going to. I really need some good adult time. Oh well, there will be other nights and hubby rarely gets sick the way he was so the decision to stay home was really a no-brainer. Poor guy needed to sleep.

By Sunday, I was absolutely exhausted. The Little Lady has decided early that sleeping during the day is not for her. This has made for a very crabby baby. But alas, we’re surviving. Thankfully, she loves being held so we’ve been able to (mostly) deal with her crabbiness and eventually get her to sleep for a bit. Her nighttime sleeping has been fairly good. She gets up 2-3 times most nights which I can live with. It will get better as she gets older.

She loves her Mama cuddles. I look like I've been punched in the face. Twice.

In spite of hubby’s sick weekend (poor guy looked reaaaaaally worse for wear Friday night/Saturday morning), I still managed to get some stuff done around the house. Most days, I’m pretty happy if I get dressed and eat. Hubby also informed me that 5 people in his row at work called in sick today. Looks like the stomach bug is alive an thriving at his work <shudder>.

This week calls for more of the same. Hopefully a walk or two. I’m hoping to start walking with the kids to/from school by the end of the week. It’s a nice, easy walk and then it allows Hubby to take the van to work so he’s not stuck taking the bus and having to be out of the house at 6am. My goal is to start daily walks next week to start building up some endurance for when I’m cleared to run in a month or so.

Have a great week everyone!

    • Hubby was missing 6 of his team of 13 today at work. There are germs everywhere!

No worries on the tweeting, I’m trying new share options looking for one that I like. It’s a work in progress :/

  1. He must have caught what I caught b/c I came home and went STRAIGHT TO BED! Or rather sofa. I was out of it. Sore throat, coughing, sneezing and fever. Felt like crap. Feel much better now. You did it with 3 kids….sometimes they do know how to act right. :-)

  2. Congrats on surviving your first week! I still pat myself on the back when I make it through a day or two without my husband around and my boys are 5 and 7! I hope that your husband is feeling better and that you do get to have some adult time too!

  3. Congrats on surviving! Those early weeks are just hard. No other way to describe it. But, as you know, it will get easier. Or at least more manageable. (Sorry, a rough evening with the middle schooler has reminded me it never gets easy…)
