Well it looks like it is now unofficially Fall. This week marks back-to-school and back to routine for many out there. For us, it’s a bit different as it marks the beginning of no routine. Or at least nothing until after the baby comes and we can figure out how to structure our days. Preschool starts on Friday so I still feel like we’re in summer mode even though it’s now maternity leave mode for yours truly.
Our weekend was pretty low-key. It rained all day Sunday so we were stuck indoors but thankfully, the sun was shining Monday morning and since it was a long weekend, we were all able to get out and enjoy it. The first thing we did was load the kids up and head to the park in the morning. It was gorgeous out! Not too hot, not too cold. Just right. The walk over was awesome. There were so many runners/walkers/bikers out on the path, it was great to see so many people taking advantage of the nice day.
The park was packed when we got there and my kids were eager to dive right into the fun. Soon, there were a few kids playing games and running races together around the park. It was great to see. After awhile, the crowd thinned out until it was just us and it was time for us to pack up and head back home for lunch. I love how kids that age don’t care about anything but having fun. Everyone is equal and welcome to play. I wish that lasted forever.
While the kids napped (both of them….miracles!), hubby and I decorated the nursery with the adorable wall decals I received from Disney baby. So cute but I’ll freely admit that decor and creativity are most definitely NOT my strong suit. I’m slightly envious of anyone who can put together a gorgeous nursery with all the special touches. I can barely pick a paint colour without hyperventilating from the stress of it. I think we did pretty good, all things considered.
Add some more outdoor fun in the back yard, a mammoth harvest of carrots from my garden and meeting a few new friends and we had a pretty awesome day!
