Mayhem Monday: Highlights and Lowlights

Last week was a bit of mayhem. After a week of not feeling quite “right”, getting some cramping, tightness in the belly that I wasn’t sure was normal, I had my follow-up with my doctor. I ended up seeing the nurse practitioner and she said not to worry, everything was just fine. She suggested that it was my scar tissue from my previous two c-sections trying to stretch that was causing the discomfort and mentioned that baby was already sitting fairly low, which would account for the cramping. Whew!

Some outdoor walk/running before the plague took me out.

Figuring I could go back to business as usual, I was going to go for my runs and walks but ended up getting hit with the worst summer cold of my life. It literally took me out for nearly the entire week. I haven’t felt that sick in a really, REALLY long time. I was essentially useless. I missed nearly the entire week at work (something that has never happened in my entire time in the workforce) and was just plain miserable.

Thankfully, I’m on the mend and starting to feel better. I hope I’m never sick like that again. Yikes! The only upside to it was that I was so sick and exhausted that even my restless leg syndrome couldn’t keep me awake forever. The days I was at home, I was able to sleep during the day. I’m sure part of the reason I got so sick was because my body has been so worn down from not sleeping these past few months. I’m surprised I lasted this long.

When food is not appealing and you know you need to eat, you need Justin's nut butter's, ice water and fruit. Yum!

Either way, I’m still going to take it easy again this week and only do what my body will let me. I don’t know if I’ll run, it’ll really depend on how I’m feeling. I’m still congested and have a nasty cough so we’ll see what the week brings. On the upside, I was able to finish two crochet projects and start my meal planning list for the coming weeks to get the freezer stocked up over the next month.

Baby boy elf hat to go with baby girl one. Hopefully they will fit this baby's head for it's newborn shoot! Also a belly photobomb.

Highlight of the Week: Hubby decided that Mr. O. was ready to sleep in underwear at night and so far, we’ve had no overnight accidents! (Watch, next week’s Lowlight will be him peeing his bed every night…).

Lowlight of the Week: Getting sick. When I’m already exhausted a lot of the time, this was the last thing I wanted. It was hard watching hubby have to pick up my slack, especially with the boys who are in a serious “let’s push each other’s buttons and beat on each other relentlessly” phase.  Mr. O. especially. He can be a real stinker. Makes me scared for what he’ll do when baby comes. Eep.

Have a great week everyone!

Update: True to prediction, Mr. O. totally peed his bed this morning. Doh!!

  1. Hope you are feeling better now Stephanie, I went through a similar pregnancy scare recently but like you all good now – bit of a scary time though. You look super fit and healthy though, especially considering you are 33 weeks (puts me to shame!)

    • Thanks! I’m feeling pretty good overall. The no-sleep thing is tough but I’m learning to just allow myself to slow down and not fret over not working out very much in this home stretch.
