Finding my Stride with Momentum Jewelery (plus a Giveaway!)

Disclaimer: I was gifted a Momentum custom wrap bracelet and footnote by this company. All views are my own.

I’ve never been big into jewellery. I’m pretty basic on all levels. I don’t wear make-up, a pony-tail is my go-to hair style and I’ll take jeans and a t-shirt any day over a dress. So it’s really no surprise that the only jewellery I wear are my wedding rings and the same earrings day in and day out. I’m extremely boring.

My hubby is pretty happy that he married a low-maintenance gal. Though I suspect sometimes he wished I would doll myself up a bit more often than I do. Maybe some day.

It’s not that I don’t like jewellery, I really do. I like pretty things. But for me, they need to be practical. Bracelets get in the way or fall off my bony little wrists too easily and any necklace that I’ve previously worn has been destroyed by little hands that like to tug. Add in an allergy to most metals and my options are fairly limited (and expensive).

I recently got to know a little bit about Momentum jewellery and it’s founder, Amy. What she’s created is a line of inspirational jewellery for sporty, active people, like me, that’s both functional and adorable. I love that each piece has inspiration attached to it and whether you wear it on your running (or other athletic) shoe or your wrist, you can carry that inspiration with you. She particularly liked my mantra of “Never Look Back” and offered to make me a special wrap bracelet with my special saying on it. I couldn’t refuse an offer like that. She also sent me a foot note with a special message for my running shoes.

Beautiful shoes need beautiful bling
Beautiful shoes need beautiful bling. This will be my mantra when I start training for my first 26.2 and triathlon.

This past weekend, I wore my bracelet proudly as I embarked on my 4 mile leg at the Manitoba Marathon relay and couldn’t help but look at it a few times during my time on the course and smile. I love my mantra, I love what it represents to me and I love the journey that’s it’s taking me on each time I reflect on it. I wanted to break in my new Asics GT2000 that I bought last month with my awesome footnote but the massive amounts of rain meant big puddles and mud and there was no way I wanted either of those beauties getting dirty on their maiden voyage.

    • Whoops – haven’t had enough coffee; didn’t respond to the prompt! I spend a fair amount of my time running cheering myself on, but I don’t have just one saying I go back to. I guess it would be, “You can do it!” or sometimes “Anyone can do a mile. Just one (two, five, etc.) more mile..” :)

  1. When I started running, a friend who is a veteran runner told me this quote/mantra and I swear by it. Trust the trqining; respect the distance.

  2. I keep seeing this everywhere!!! Love your sayings!!!

Hard one for me on a personal mantra right now.. Just Be… :) I am sure I would think up something better if I won.. or one of theirs…

  3. Mine is usually something simple, but something that I need to be reminded of – like “you can do this” or “you’ve done this before, you can do it again!”

  4. Diana Nyad the long distance swimmer would say, “Find a Way” when she needed the extra help with swimming. I love it. I say this when I am running marathons and feel like I can’t go on.
