Never a dull moment when you’re a Boy Mom

This week started like many others. Fit Boy had (yet another) ear infection and fever and was home for a couple of days. I stayed home with him and Mr. O. on Monday and hubby stayed home with them yesterday so I could get come work done at the office. My favorite part of when hubby is home with them is the phone call I get from them at lunch time. Their little voices are simply adorable on the phone.

After my phone call from home, I settled into my afternoon in hopes of finishing the work I’d set out to do before heading home for the day. About 10 minutes after that, my phone rang. I briefly considered letting it go to voice mail but decided to answer it. The first thing I heard on the other end was my hubby’s shaky voice saying “<Mr. O.> took a bad fall, hit his head. There’s lots of blood and I think he needs stitches.”

*Cue heart stopping immediately in my chest*

I couldn’t get home fast enough. We decided I would take him to children’s emergency and hubby would stay home with the oldest. I got home and my poor little boy was looking a bit worse for wear, with a big band-aid on his forehead and tears in his eyes. I have to admit, I don’t think hubby looked much better.

I packed him up in the car and off we went.

Waiting and watching Thomas the Train in the waiting room.

Thankfully, stitches was the worst of it. No head injury. Mr. O. enjoyed a Popsicle, a couple of cookies and a lot of love and attention from the doctor’s and nurses. I hated having to restrain him and see him cry so much when they stitched him up but he was so brave and just as fast as it began, it was over and we were on our way home.

The aftermath. Finally back home and in need of many Mama cuddles.

I can’t say I’m entirely surprised that Mr. O. was the first recipient of an ER visit and I highly doubt it will be our last. Our rough’n’tumble little man is back to bouncing around, jumping and playing with nothing more than a very large band-aid on his forehead to remind us of yesterday’s ordeal.

Mama, on the other hand, has aged about 10 years overnight.

What are some of the adventures your kids have taken you on?

  1. I still don’t have any kids on my own, but seeing all these beautiful super active moms blogging about their adventures in fitness, cooking, marriage and raising kids, it all kinda seems like both a challenge and fun. Probably a fun challenge, I don’t know. :)
I really enjoy your blog and “when I grow up” I want to be a mom with superpowers, just like you. :)
Hope your boy gets better soon! Have a great week and stay strong and lovely!

  2. I have 2 boys, also and you are right – never a dull moment!
I’m glad that stitches was the worst of it – I hope that you and dad recovered!!!
