Mayhem Monday: Sounding like a Broken Record

Broken record time: Last week…we were sick. Shocking, I know. We started out Monday morning with Fit Boy, who was perfectly fine when he went to bed the night before, waking up with a 101F temperature which quickly became a 103F temp. Oy. So I stayed home with him Monday and hubby took Tuesday off. Wednesday was my day off and by Thursday, he was feeling well enough to go back to daycare and it was MY turn to get the cough/cold/fever. Sigh. Thankfully, the boys are back to their typical selves (knock on wood) and other than the fact that I can’t breathe and therefore can’t sleep, I’m also on the mend. Hopefully this is the last sick update I have for a very, very long time.

Missing so much work lately had done 2 things for me: 1. It’s eating up my vacation time like you wouldn’t believe, and 2. It’s left me so behind that the days I am there, I’m so busy, I don’t leave my desk for anything other than coffee and bathroom. Yikes.

This week, I’m hoping we’re back to status quo and can have a normal week. Not that I’ve been completely inactive, but I’ve definitely been taking it easy to get back to healthy as soon as possible. I did my #SweataDay challenges and am slowly learning to embrace the burpee. Otherwise, no running, no swimming, minimal yoga. I haven’t run in a good 2-3 weeks and I’m definitely feeling the itch to get out for a couple of easy miles.

Definitely need to get more of this done if I want to pass my exam in April.

The upside is that not running is always a good thing for my leg so at least there is some silver lining. I’m not sure how it’s going to feel when I do try to run because I’ve also been neglecting my foam rolling too. I’m hoping the rest will help my tendon heal.

In the meantime, I’m also working on a study schedule and taking is as much of the Olympics as my eyeballs can handle.

Have a great week!

  3. Ugh I hear you I had kids home all last week. I thought we were in the clear but NO today more sickness is here. Blah I’m over this winter! I hope you are feeling better soon!

Oh, sorry to hear you got sick, the flu is really exhausting, I hope you’re getting better. Every year I get sick like twice every winter, but some of the things that help me get through it or beat it while it’s still in the first phase are salty chicken soup and spicy foods, they do an incredible job at improving respiration. Also, make sure to get real medicine promptly, the sooner you start, the better.
Get well soon, I’m looking forward to a new blog post!
