Last week was my first week back in the regular routine. I’d only been off work for about 10 days but in those 10 days, I’d forgotten how to function. I’m amazed I got the kids to daycare and myself to work. Nothing short of miraculous. By the end of the week, familiarity was slowly creeping back in and exhaustion was right behind it. I slept in a bit and was late getting to swim on Saturday. A blessing in disguise because coach worked us haaaaard. I felt like I was swimming in pudding. It was a rough practice but good at the same time.
After swim, I went for a new phase of treatment for my tendonitis: massage. Now, you may be thinking that getting a relaxing massage wouldn’t really benefit my leg and you’d be correct in that assumption. As I laid my exhausted self down onto the nice, heated table, I thought for sure I’d be sound asleep in no time. Until she started working. Holy mother of fudge….it was one of the most painful massages I have ever gotten. But in a good way. She worked my legs, hips, back with no mercy. I definitely did not sleep on her table. But my legs needed that deep tissue work. Money well spent.
I did crash though, when the kids went for their naps, I laid my head down on my pillow and was in dreamland within about 30 seconds. I slept like the dead. For nearly 3 HOURS!!!!!!!!!!! I felt like I could have slept all night but alas, duty did call.
Other than that, my week was pretty decent. I followed last week’s training plan almost to the letter but I ended up running a bit longer on Friday and had no time for Nike Training Club. But I did get to yoga twice and it felt sooooooo good to get back to it.
This week will be much of the same. Thankfully, the week should be a bit quieter. Here’s my plan:
Sunday: Short outdoor run to take advantage of the beautifully mild weather
Monday: Elliptical + NTC
Tuesday: Rest (I have a doctor’s appointment and won’t be able to make it to yoga)
Wednesday: Swim with a friend (we didn’t make it last week because she got sick and I chickened out going because it was so stinkin’ cold)
Friday: Run (or elliptical if my leg is sore) + NTC
