Happy New Year and my last Christmas recap

I kind of left you hanging with my Christmas recap from last week. Couldn’t find the time to sit and write about it. All day today, my 3 year old has been complaining of a sore tummy. It’s amazing how quickly I can find time when I’m huddled in the basement, quaking in fear of even the remote possibility that he’s going to start blowing chow at any moment. Shudder.

So I realized that in my last post, I didn’t show you guys what I got this year! True to our promise, we kept it simple this year. Hubby and I actually bought our gifts for each other together. We decided to get Hockey jerseys to wear when we go to games (we go to about 7 per season). Hubby had a gift card burning a hole in his pocket and we get a discount as season ticket holders (or co-holders in our case). It was almost a deal 😉 Either way, we’re happy with what we got.

The big surprise was the gift I got from my in laws. They got me the perfect gift: winter running gear!!

Simply GORGEOUS!!!

I’m in love with the colour of this amazing Under Armour jacket. It is so light and yet keeps me ridiculously warm. I haven’t been able to test it out on a run yet (you know why…) but I will! In the meantime, I’ve been living in the jacket. I can’t take it off! It’s already found a permanent home in my closet. Mr. O. has already christened it by wiping his snotty nose all over the usual spot (left shoulder, post-crying fit).

All in all, it was a lovely Christmas. I got gifts that were useful and have a purpose. Nothing wasted and we even managed to find more stuff to purge. Going into 2014, I think we’re going to continue to purge, minimize and enjoy the freedom that simple living is starting to afford us.

Happy New Year Everyone!!
