It's Official: I'm going to #RagnarSoCal!

A few months ago, I took part in a Virtual Relay Giveaway sponsored by Ragnar Relays. Along with that came an invitation to be part of their Blogger team this coming April and take part in the Ragnar Southern California event. I was completely stoked to go and really hoping I could come up with the airfare to get my prairie girl self out there.

It’s taken awhile but I’m finally there! My flight is booked and in a month and a half, I’ll be heading to So Cal to be part of what can only be deemed an epic adventure of…well…epicness. I’m very excited to take part in what’s sure to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. What’s even better is that I’ll be on a team with two of my favorite bloggers, Janice (fellow Canuck!) from Fitness Cheerleader and Rachel from Running Rachel. I’m pumped to FINALLY meet these two ladies that I feel like I’ve been dating online for the last 3 years and spend 36 solid hours in a van running, laughing, crying and eating together.

So now that I’ve taken the plunge, I have come to realize that the terrain of Southern California is vastly different from the flatlands I live in, in the Canadian prairies. So that begs about 20 questions. Some of which being, how best to train over the coming weeks, what to pack for the adventure, and the best food to get through the entire race. If you’ve done a Ragnar, or Hood to Coast, I’d love your input and experiences. I think I will be adding in a hill training day (on the treadmill since we have no actual hills here) and really making sure I’m getting those cross training strength days in.

The countdown is on!

Congrats! I’m an Ambassador for the Napa Valley Ragnar. One recommendation: store each running out (different one for each of your legs) in gallon ziploc bags. Then you can swap the dirty ones for clean ones and leave your van a little less smelly :)

I’m jealous not only that you get to do the race, but who you get to do it with! It’s like Canadian Fitblogging Avengers Assemble!

  5. I’m over the moon excited for you!! I can’t wait to hear all about it and see all the pictures!

  6. Wahoo!! Congrats! You’re going to crush it!
