This morning I woke up to my ever-the-early-riser toddler tantruming about some nameless injustice in his 34 month old world. I have similar tantrums when awoken a good 2-3 hours before the sun rises. That’s just how our mornings go. Raise your coffee cup in solidarity if you feel my pain.
While Fit Boy was eating breakfast, I checked emails and was greeted with my yearly summary of my physical activity from 2012 courtesy of DailyMile. Given that I was not cleared for exercise until April and ridiculously pregnant before that, the fact that I moved 500km for the entire year is pretty sweet. Also sweet is the notion that I’ve never moved that much in one year period. And that’s just the movement I remembered to record

This year when I made my running goals, I specifically omitted a distance marker and the reason for that was I didn’t want to put pressure on myself to go a certain distance. The goals I have come up with are lofty enough, I don’t want to create stress in my life if I don’t get X number of miles logged. I want to enjoy the journey, enjoy the miles and hopefully rock out the year.
Your Turn: Do you set distance/mileage goals when you run or are you more of a race or overall miles logged kind of runner?

Cup raised!! My morning was off to a rough start too when my eight year old mentioned on the way to school that he forgot his inside shoes and skating equipment. Nice! So back home we went. Oh well, coffee fixes lots of things!
And no, I don’t record a mileage goal for the same reasons as you. With all the injuries I’ve had lately I don’t need the added stress.
nope I don’t set mileage goals, I thought it was cool when I hit the same number of miles two years in a row, but my goal isn’t a number it’s about finding joy in those miles
