Last night, I did something I haven’t done in over two years. Since I had my last gym membership at the Y. I went to a fitness class. Not just any class. I went Spin class.
Traditionally, I tend to stay away from most classes because they require coordination and skill and I have very little in that department. Hence why I choose free weights and body pump class. Spin class also fits into that category. Thankfully, I can ride a stationary bike. Truth be told, I can barely handle myself on my road bike (which could make my triathlon dreams a bit awkward if I fall off my bike while trying to get on it).
But I digress…
So my new gym has now opened and this week is the first week they are teaching classes. I decided it was time to get back to spin class. It’s a great workout and a good compliment to running.
How did I do? Glad you asked! I did fantastic! I really loved our instructor. She first made sure that we were all set up properly and gave very details explanation and instructions so we were all doing exactly what we were supposed to. She was encouraging, fun, and her music was great. I pushed myself hard but not so much that I overdid it (i.e. I was able to get out of bed this morning without pain or collapse).
I will definitely be going back! Next time, I’ll try taking pictures too. I was so busy trying to set up my bike, I completely forgot! (a bloggers worst sin!!)
Next up? Trying out Body Pump again!

You’re my heroine.
I went once.
A decade ago.
My…um…hoohah is still recovering
I was really glad to read this. I’ve been thinking of going to a spin class at my gym. The folks there told me that a lot of runners do spin class as a cross training for running.
Congrats! I love Spin but haven’t been in so long. You have me wanting to go today after work…..
I have contemplated trying spin class, but the idea terrifies me. I am so afraid I will get 5 minutes into the class and want to die.
I absolutely love spinning!!!
I was scared when I first tried it out but, I ended up falling in love with my first spin of the wheels!
Spin class is so awesome! I love loud, pouding music and spinning to a beat so it’s right up my alley. Also, my gym does it in a dark room with neon lights everywhere so it’s super fun!
That’s awesome! I have always been curious about spin classes, but too scared to try one. Is it easy enough for a spin class rookie to get the hang of things and not fall too far behind in the class?
Good for you, I lurve taking part and teaching spinning classes. I remember my first class it was a bit uncomfortable on the bottom, once I started teaching it and kitted myself out with a gel seat things were much better. For those contemplating it try it, you’ll enjoy it and no need to over do it just pace yourself and enjoy the ride!

Thankfully, my bum isn’t too sore from the seat. I was more afraid of that than the leg pain.
I laughed at your picture of the tricycle and “spin class”, lol. Kind of applicable for my first spin class too! Glad you rocked it!
Fun! I am still learning to like spin. I would much rather ride my bike on a trail than in a crowded LOUD class
