Well, it’s official: Winter is here. I’m not thrilled because it means short days, long nights and the need for multiple layers of flannel.
This is also the time of year that I struggle with maintaining a healthy living routine the most. I need a serious kick in the arse to get out the door and doing anything. This winter is no exception. I don’t have a training plan to start until February when I start training for the Fargo half marathon and no plan=couch potato.
I’m determined not to let that happen this winter. After all the hard work I put into training for the WFPS half marathon, I really don’t want to let myself go and have to start from scratch come February. I have my eye on some lofty running goals for next year and in order to make them, I need to be diligent.
So enters: The Plan.
I’m actually not 100% sure what “The Plan” is exactly but it will entail running 2-3 days a week with my long runs being done outside in mother nature’s glory with my lovely running friend, Leslie. It will entail doing 1-2 classes a week at the gym and it will entail getting back to strength training. Mama misses her guns!
Long and Slow is the way to Go. Especially if you don’t feel like slipping and falling on your duff.
How do you motivate yourself to stay active during the winter months?

EEP so much snow!! BRRR! We have had an unusually warm weekend this weekend here in Toronto. I guess I better enjoy it while it last though, because it looks like winter is coming
Great job! Running in the cold… and snow is NOT something I would be good at.
I struggle with running in the cold rain in our winter (northern California).
