Motivation Monday: 18km Running and Counting

This weekend marked a new milestone for me: 18km long run! I haven’t done a run this long in a year and a half. It. Was. Awesome! The weather was cool, sunny with a slight breeze. Perfection! My legs felt strong, my lungs were able to keep up and though my knees were hurting, they held on until the very end. In fact, I felt so strong finishing that if this had been “the day”, I would have finished all 13.1 miles strong!

I love runs like that.

What made it better was I had a running buddy again. I can’t say enough how nice it is to have someone to go running with. The long runs can be very intimidating. Knowing you’ll be out there for up to 2 hours alone can be daunting and doesn’t always do much for the motivation to lace up. Having someone to run with me not only makes me accountable to get it done, but it also keeps my mind occupied and gets me through the tough miles. Thanks L! Had a great run!

Happy (and stinky) Mother Runner

If my half marathon feels this good, I will crush my PR! For now, I’m sporting my awesome CEP Compression socks, a glass of red wine and my downfall, Riceworks Sweet Chili brown rice chips. Mmmmmmm.

Rocking my stylish compression socks with my amazing Under Armour Capris. Don’t hate me because I’m stylish ;)

Come to Mama!

How do you celebrate those awesome runs that make you excited for the next long run?

Had such a great run with you Stephanie!! It’s surprising how fast the miles go by when you have someone by your side to chat with. I’m totally looking forward to race day knowing that you will be there with me to encourage and cheer me on, as I will do for you. Together we will rock it!!
