I love the fall. L-O-V-E type love. I look forward to the fall more than summer. Unlike many others, I don’t love the heat of summer but much prefer the crispness of the fall. There’s just something about the smells and textures and colours that make me happy.
I do my best workouts in the fall simply because the weather is more favourable and there’s so much more to explore. These are some of my favourite fall workouts that take advantage of these beautiful months:

Running: Duh, I know, I like running all year round but I LOVE running in the fall. Cool, crisp air and the smell of fireplaces burning translates to happy times running through my neighbourhood. This is one of the reason I was so excited that they half marathon I’m running next month is when it is (this is the first annual event put on by this group). We’ll be running on a paved route that will take us through one of our cities most amazing forests and with the colourful leaves and smells of the season in the air, I will be in my element.
Love the Colours of Fall!

Hiking: For the same reasons as above, fall hikes are wonderful. We have some of the most beautiful provincial parks and hiking them in the fall is amazing. Ending a hike around the fire pit roasting marshmallows is the icing.
Play Time: This goes for adult as well as kid fun. We love going to the corn mazes. This may not sound like a workout but get a group of adults together with a friendly wager and a time budget and try to convince me there won’t be some sweating going on as you run through the corn maze. Or maybe I just hang out with some really competitive people.
Nothing but blue, blue sky.

Boot camps outdoors: Whether it’s something I’m doing on my own or as part of a class, boot camp or HIIT is much more fun done outside when it’s not too hot out (think: nature’s air conditioner…and much better ventilation).
Your turn: What are some of your favourite fall workouts?
