It’s been awhile since I did a good strength workout. With limited resources, time and energy, I’ve been focusing my efforts on running. Once my half marathon is done and my new gym opens up, I will be hitting strength training hard again. I love running but I miss my muscles!
When I do go back and have a good set of weights at my disposal, I will be looking for some new workouts to really kick my butt. I don’t have one single exercise that I like to do but rather, I have an area I love to work: my shoulders. I have pretty weak shoulders and I have tried to build some visible definition there. I cannot wait to get back to the gym and start working my shoulders again. There’s something about a sexy set of shoulders that builds confidence!
I also have a preference for free weights as opposed to machines. I do use both when I’m at the gym but I find I get a better workout when I use free weights or resistance bands.
What about you? What’s your favorite exercise? Do you have any good exercises to help me shred my shoulders?

I like working my shoulders too, and I get a much better workout with free weights.
Happy Friday!
I LOVE this pic
I think women with muscles are pretty sexy! I recently discovered my shoulder muscles! Whoo!!
I’ve been doing barbell overhead presses to build up mine. HATE them cause it’s so hard.. But I feel pretty awesome afterwards!
See the picture? Now say “Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it. Vogue!”
Love it!
I eschew machines except for rehab. Much prefer a barbell and working out on my feet to sitting and doing anything!
One excellent strength exercise you can do at home (and it help your running) is the Turkish GetUP. Full body strength, balance and core work all in one! With no weights at home, balance a shoe on your upright fist and don’t let it fall! Five on each side will finish you off well.
Shoulder strength exercises are:
lateral raises and overhead presses. The raises work wonders on developing that “cap” on the arm.
