I had another one of those “do now, ask forgiveness later” moments this past week. Thankfully, I don’t have many of those but when I do, I make them count.
Back in the Spring, I wrote about my excitement that a new gym was opening up in the fall sometime that was only about a 10-15 minute drive from where we live. Trust me when I say this is practically having one in my backyard. There have not been an abundance of gyms in my end of town until this last year.
Until now.
I was very excited because they offered the classes I wanted, childcare for the kids and, as previously mentioned, was closer to us. I was disappointed in the cost to attend this gym because it was well out of our budget, even without the inclusion of childcare to the membership.
Then one day, I was driving and happened upon another new gym being built. This one, even closer to me. More like a 3 minute drive. This one doesn’t have childcare BUT it has the exact same classes (same certification), hot yoga, is a short drive, bus, walk, run, bike from my house, bus route (from work) and daycare. And best of all, the membership is considerably cheaper and is a women’s only club which is more my comfort level.
I went to visit the build site where they had someone there to talk to about the membership. After many questions, lots of raised eye brows and consideration later (I should have given her flowers for all the questions I was asking. I can’t help it, if they want my money, they have to earn it), I signed up with no enrollment fee and free hot yoga for life!
The only catch…I have to wait until November when the club opens. But the timing is actually pretty good because it will open about a week after my half marathon so I will be wanting to tone down the mileage and do some spinning, hot yoga and strength training over the winter!
Now if only my hubby was as excited as me. Thankfully, he’s somewhat more forgiving

[...] and energy, I’ve been focusing my efforts on running. Once my half marathon is done and my new gym opens up, I will be hitting strength training hard again. I love running but I miss my muscles! [...]
