Motivation Monday: Chilling Out

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? I hope you made the most of each minute of it! I know I did!

Saturday morning started very early. Baby O is still not sleeping terribly well, but much better than a couple of months ago. He was up a few times with the last being around 6:30. After I nursed him and put him back to bed, I was so tempted to crawl back in and do the same myself. I. Was. Tired.

Thankfully, I didn’t because I would have missed the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful solo 14km run. The weather was cool (I was actually chilly leaving the house!), mostly overcast and no wind. It honestly doesn’t get any better than that. Apparently a few other people thought so too because the pedestrian path I do the first part of my run on already had lots of people taking advantage of the cool morning. Even at 7am! It was awesome to see!

My run was simply amazing. I felt good, strong, confident and finished it feeling like I could have gone further. I was tired and achy (darn knees) but my runners high lasted all day long. Who says No Excuses means you have to suffer?!

This week my pool is closed for regular repairs and maintenance. It won’t be open again until the end of September! This makes me sad because I was enjoying my swims. But it gives me something to look forward to.

Wearing my amazing CEP compression socks under my pants after my run. Boy do these things help with recovery!

Speaking of looking forward to, I know some very lovely ladies that have been looking forward to Mamavation’s Fitcation retreat for many months now. Well they finally were able to get away, meet each other and have a fantastic time over the weekend. If you recall, I went last year and had a blast! Sadly, I just couldn’t afford the travel costs to get there (and bringing Baby O would have been a juggling act all on its own) so I had to settle for raising a glass of wine over Google chat with them instead. I can’t wait to read all about your adventures ladies!

Looks like a good time!

  3. You are an inspiration for an early morning! I have a tendency to go back to bed, and then I feel worse then I did when I was up earlier! I am going to try to make that a goal this week (especially with my kiddos starting back to school next week).
I actually purchased compression socks for my husband, who drives all day long. They have been a miracle worker for him. Who knew a pair of socks could help so much?
Hope you have a great week!

  4. LOVE your socks!! I need a pair .. In fact I think I will go pick some up tonight! My legs need some love after what I have been putting them through lately :)

  5. Great job getting your run in, despite the lack of sleep! I don’t miss those days… :)
