Body After Baby: The Unwelcome Aunt

After last week’s germ-filled, motivation-lacking extravaganza, I’m happy to say I’m starting this week off a bit better.  Yesterday while the women’s semi-final soccer game was on (what a finish?! My heart broke for my fellow Canadian women but it was a great game and I am so proud of our girls for playing their hearts out!), I jumped on the dreadmill and did a 3 mile run. The boys were both sleeping (at the same time!) so I definitely took advantage because this might never happen again.

Unfortunately, last weekend also brought the no-so triumphant return of Aunt-Flo after over a year vacation. I was not happy to be greeted by her, that’s for sure. Not that it was a complete surprise, she came back around this time with Fit Boy too. I definitely didn’t miss the cramps, the major back ache or the fatigue. Not. One. Bit. (Big shout out to the makers of Advil!)

This week, my inlaws go back home after 3 weeks here so my day time babysitters will be gone. *sad face*. But it also means that there won’t be any more eating out, ordering in and I will again have control over what comes in the house (my type A personality really struggles when every time I turn my back, Fit Boy is getting fed crap that I don’t want him eating, even when I say no).

Otherwise, this week, I have 2 more runs on the agenda so fingers crossed I can get them both done!

Does Aunt Flo get in the way of your fitness routine?

I am a mom to 2 beautiful boys and love everything health and fitness. I am dedicated to improving my own health, setting a good example for healthy living for my family and hopefully inspiring and educating others to do the same in their lives.

  1. Pam Gordon says:

Aunt Flo definitely affects my workouts as I am extremely tired for at least a week – 2 weeks before she comes :( I do find that if I stay consistent with my exercising, that my symptoms are less severe :)

  2. Good old Auntie is a real jerk to me when it comes to getting in the way of fitness. I try so hard to work through it, but then she decides punching me in the gut repeatedly will help me get through the workout. Ugh.
