Motivation Monday: Getting my Social Butterfly on

Another week has come and gone and I have to say, it is a complete blur in my memory! Hubby took the week off and my in-laws were in town visiting for the week. We also went out with friends for a combined birthday dinner/baseball game and then AGAIN to friends to help break in a wicked new porch/deck they build.

No wonder I’m so tired!

It was a fabulous week of socializing but exhausted doesn’t begin to describe it. I still managed to get to the pool once and get two runs in. I did a three mile run before my swim on Tuesday and then went for a beautiful, cool, early morning 5 mile run on Saturday. My hip has been bothering me since my 8 mile run last weekend and I decided to try some rest because stretching and mobility didn’t seem to be enough. It’s still tender and I can’t quite pin-point the issue so I’m being cautious. I’m hoping it’s nothing a bit of rest won’t fix. I’m on a roll and my running has never been stronger so I’d hate to have a set-back now when I’m feeling strong and my mileage is piling up.

Post swim glow.

This week I’m hoping for 2 swims, 3 runs but my hip will dictate how much of that I can accomplish.

Have you ever experienced aches and pains you couldn’t quite pinpoint? Did you rest or seek a professional opinion?

  1. Good morning! My husband was off all week as well, we worked in the yard everyday building a chicken coop, I was exhausted every evening, carpentry is not my forte, I used muscles I did not know I had, today hubby was out the door by 6:00am, probably glad to get back to work since I worked him so hard at home LOL :-)

  2. I have had a number of aches and pains along the way, usually when I go over 30 mpw something acts up. Right now it’s my shin, so I’m taking a two week break and antsy to get back to running this week! I would take a solid week off (cycling, swimming, etc are probably fine) and then try again. If it’s still bothering you, see a sports med dr. Great job building your miles up!

  3. I’ve had many aches and pains from running. I usually will rest and see if that does the trick. I also roll everyday…that seems to help greatly with injury prevention. Good luck! I hope the hip feels better soon!

  4. I’m a horrid patient… I hate hate hate Doctors… that may have something to do with a lack of health insurance but still… I have had random aches and pains that I couldn’t quite pin point but luckily *knocks on wood* they’ve all been remedied with adequate rest…

Sounds like you had an awesome week!
