Motivation Monday: New Running Milestone

Happy Monday! This Monday is extra happy for me because hubby is taking the entire week off work! We don’t have any set plans but it’s just nice knowing that there’s another adult here during the day to even out the odds.

This past week was slow on the workout front, mostly because of the heat again. I have to say, when I am out during the day and I see people running in peak sun hours when it’s over 100 degrees, I don’t know whether to applaud them for not letting the heat keep them from running or yell at the to wait until it’s safer to be out running. Jury’s still out on that one.

I did get in 2 runs and was planning 2 days of swimming but when I arrived at the pool on Tuesday with the intent of doing a brick, I was informed that the pool was closed for the week due to a large swim event that was not listed in their scheduling at all. Grrrrr. The other pool that I could go to is closed until roof repairs are done. Double Grrrr. So no swim for me last week.

In spite of that, I still rocked my no excuses lifestyle and got my planned 3k run in, which I ran at a faster pace than I have ever run before!! Proof that 1) Following a training plan works. 2) You don’t necessarily get slower/less efficient after you have kids or as you get older and 3) I rock (duh!). And if that weren’t enough, I crushed a 13k run on Saturday (No excuses, I got up before 6am to get out and beat the heat!) running comfortably at what used to be my race pace. Yeah Baby!

Suffice it to say, I’m motivated :)

Have a Great Week!

  1. Great job on those runs this week!!! And I know what you mean about people running in the extreme heat of the day…I always feel sorry for them and want to tell them to be careful!

I wish that I’d had a new-mom-blogger friend to look up to when I was pregnant with my first!
    You’re rockin’ those runs!
    And hooray for ‘staycations’!
