Like I said in my Motivation Monday post, it has been summer-lovin’ hot here! Great for chasing the kidlets through the sprinkler and jumping in their pool (with or without them…). Not so great for running as I discovered the hard way. With half marathon training starting up and taking me through the summer, I need a plan to deal with the summer heat and storms. I have a treadmill in my basement which will be a saving grace for sure. The hard part (aside from lack of motivation when I’m practically melting into my shoes) is getting on the treadmill. With the heat, neither of my kids are sleeping particularly well and I’m finding that by the end of the day, I’m spent. Not to mention that by the time both are settled for the night, it’s after 10:30pm and that’s a bit too late, even for me to run.
Thankfully, I’ve been able to get to the pool the last couple of weeks and have plans to head over there this week again so it helps me stay active AND cool. Win-win! I’m totally getting my butt handed to me doing laps but it feels oh-so-good!
Trying to keep cool in the sunroom
My little pool boy
(That’s not the pool I swim laps in btw…)

Ok giggled at the ‘not my lap pool’ remark.
My workout today is all parade.
Watching. Walking. Sweating
Running in the summer heat always beats me up. It’s like instant heat headache if I run for more than 3 miles. I’ve been doing a ton of group exercise classes, but I definitely think some swimming is in order!
Thanks for the motivation!
I hear you- it’s incredibly hot here too, and running is so hard. I just got in 6 this morning, and was so hot I was almost nauseous afterward. Yuck. Stay cool!
