Body After Baby: Motherhood Trumps Runnerhood

As I alluded to in yesterday’s post, sickness, crankiness and mommy duties took over the house last week. I had to put my running plans aside for 2 of my 3 planned runs. Not the end of the world because my mommy duties always take priority and these things happen. The only disappointing part was that my hubby took Fit Boy for a boys weekend with a couple of other dads and their kids, and my parents offered to watch Baby O so I could swim or run or do whatever. I was very excited but alas, my own health was not up to snuff and no miles were logged.

I did get to enjoy cooking for myself and thus not having to worry that my meals were too “healthy tasting” or anything like that. I enjoyed the quiet moments when the baby slept and let my parents indulge in some much needed baby cuddles while I relaxed on their couch for a couple of hours. This was definitely a nice weekend for me. I have to remind myself that relaxing is just as important as eating well and exercising. I don’t get nearly enough opportunity to relax so I’m thankful that I was able to do just that and enjoy some quality time with Baby O.

For this week, I’m hoping to get back to running and adding in a day of strength training.

Thought I’d leave you this week with a parting shot of my sweet Baby O from our 2 month photo shoot a couple of weeks ago.
