So I had my doctors appointment this past Friday in which I was hoping to be officially cleared for moderate-high intensity exercise once again. I have been counting down to this appointment for so long, I was beginning to wonder if the day would actually arrive. I felt like my 8 year old self again, anxiously waiting for Christmas to the point that it hurt.
After a bit of a wait and going through all the mishaps and commenting that what happened to me was not common at all, I finally heard the words I have been waiting for:
“If it feels good, go for it.”
And I did. Not immediately after my appointment (though I did semi-seriously contemplate bringing workout clothes with me) but the very next day. I went for my first run since October. That’s a long time in between runs. It was not heroic, I did not break any records and it most definitely wasn’t easy but I got it done. And even though it was tough, it felt awesome. I have a running plan and I am going to stick to it to a tee. Often times, I’ll feel good and do more than a plan calls for and end up injured or sick from pushing myself too hard, too fast. Like anything else, I will be focusing on the slow and steady to hopefully avoid any setbacks along the way.
How was your week? Did you try something new? Start up a new plan?

I am starting a big.new.as.of.yet.undetermined.PLAN.
*grabs pom-poms in anticipation of cheer-leading duties*
I had a great week! Happy to hear you got the green light to go for it, if it feels good!
Yeah! Glad you’re in the clear! It’s so hard to wait but it’s almost worth it when you can break free & start doing your normal things again!
So happy to hear you made it back out running! Yay!!
Congrats on being cleared for workouts
I can wait to see your progress and for you to kick us all into shape.
Congrats on being ‘all clear’! =)
You inspire me because I WANT to be a runner again – it’s been so long, and that is my new goal. I’m working my way up to it, I can’t wait to burn some rubber again.
Yay, glad your able to get back into it. Nothing new this week just busy.
Not doing too much is kind of a hard one. I was working through an injury last year, and once I was feeling better, it was all I could do to not push myself too hard and get re-injured. It felt like just as much an achievement to NOT run the race I was training for as it would have been to finish it!
Congratulations on getting the all-clear, and for setting a realistic plan for getting back in it!
I remember how happy I was when I was cleared to exercise after giving birth (and a pile of knee surgeries). Of course, I am stubborn and would have exercised anyway if I hadn’t. Maybe the doc knew that!
