Body After Baby: Good-bye Baby Weight, Hello Muffin Top??

I haven’t stepped on the scale in a few weeks but I know that I was on the right track in terms of losing the baby weight I had gained. Things have been falling into place nicely and this week is the week that I will hopefully be cleared for exercise (can I get an Amen!!). Friday is my doctors appointment and to be perfectly honest, I have been exercising for the last week. Nothing hard, heavy or vigorous, but I’ve been moving. I’ve really been focusing on my core and strengthening that up and doing some moderate intensity circuits when I can squeeze them in (which has been hard with a fussy baby and a 2 year old who has been driving me to the brink of insanity lately!).

Getting ready to hit the road with mommy!

(You can follow my workouts and see how I’m feeling on DailyMile)

As I wait very (im)patiently for the go ahead to lace up and start back at my running roots with a C25K program, I’m somewhat appalled at the state of my poor post-pregnancy stomach. Last time around, I got big everywhere. There was no mercy on my poor body with Fit Boy. With Baby O, I was all belly (remember this little treat?) and now that the belly is shrinking, I have a lot of extra skin to firm and tone up and one muffin top to bid adieu to. In doing my core exercises I am slightly grossed out at the amount of extra skin I’m sporting. I’m really hoping that as I tone, move and strengthen my core (which will hopefully include fully healing my diastisis recti this time around), my loose skin will become a thing of the past.

For now, until the all-clear is given and I can figure out a reasonable training plan for myself, I will continue to do my core strengthening and walking and light weights whenever I get a few minutes to myself.

See you next week with updated pictures and a weigh-in!

  2. The title of this makes me laugh, but not as hard as you being grossed out by the skin. You are so cute! And so is baby!! I feel pretty similar since having baby & losing weight. Flab everywhere, haha. I’m excited to see what you have planned & how it goes.

  3. You are awesome!! I agree with The Miz… slow and steady while listening to your body is the BEST thing for you and your body (and baby’s) <3

Love that super cute pic of the two of you! Can’t wait to follow your journey!

  5. How did you get your baby to pose so nicely for the camera? If you don’t fully get your pre-baby shape back, at least you have your baby. Pretty good trade, right? http://funandfit.org/2012/04/i-want-to-lose-100-pounds/

And yes, my saggy skin, poochy belly and all the rest of it is totally worth it to see that little face smiling up at me :)
