Motivation Monday: Again with the sick

It seems to be a running theme in my house that if the smallest of germs enters through the front door, it will find its way into my body and make me sick. This past week was no exception to that. After a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at my parents house, I commented to hubby on our way home that their house was really dry and my throat was sore. He politely told me the house was fine and said I was probably getting sick again. Sure enough by the time I went to bed, I was swallowing nails. Not cool.

Thankfully, I had taken a couple of extra days off work so while I had zero energy to run around after Fit Boy at home and was miserable, at least I was able to throw on my sweats, curl up under a blanket and sleep when he slept rather than drag my sorry self into the office.

It took until Friday for me to really start to feel better so sadly, all I got in was a power walk at the gym this week, about 4km. Sets me back in my movement goal but when in doubt, listen to your body and this week, my body was commanding rest in order to fight off this virus.

My plan for next week is to get back on track but I’m going to move my longer cardio days to the end of the week rather than the beginning to give my chest and lungs some extra time to recover. I’ll be back at bootcamp Tuesday night and hope to get in at least 15km of movement, 1-2 strength sessions and of course, lots of fruit and veggies to keep my body and this baby growing strong.
