This weekend was epic for so many reasons:
Firstly, the end of April means taxes are due but don’t worry, Mr. Tax-dude was kind to me this year so I filed early to get my refund tout suite.
Then there was the massive and never ending rainstorm that hit us all day Saturday. As we’re in the process of selling our house, we spent the day praying for no basement flooding.
The rain then turned to snow and freezing rain, just in time for us to wake up on Sunday morning. May 1. You know, the day I signed up to run my very first Half Marathon. Oy.
I was hoping it would be cancelled.
It wasn’t.
I was left with a dilemma: tough it out and run or cower under my nice, warm, covers in bed and forget I signed up.
I chose to run. And run I did! I didn’t shatter any records, I didn’t place first in the overall, female or age group categories but I did something even better: I finished. And I finished (more or less) strong. In spite of the ice, snow and gusty winds, I had a good time. I paced myself back with the “casual” runners as I call them (the ones that run for fun and chat it up along the way) and finished my race in 2:27:19. When you consider that my ultimate goal was simply to finish, upright if possible, then you can imagine my excitement. Even as I type this, I’m in my jammies with my race medal around my neck. I’m all kinds of proud. Full race recap will come later in the week so stay tuned!
For now, I’m off to ice my entire lower body and sleep the best sleep of my life!

Thanks so much for this Monday Motivation. It’s 20 degrees colder than it’s been, wet, and rainy. I’m not running any half marathon today, for sure, but the lack of get-up-and-go was substantial nonetheless! Fine…I’ll go…
You did so awesome! I enjoyed running in the rain, but I’m not sure I could have enjoyed snowy, wintry weather…
YAY!!! Can’t wait to read the race recap!
Congrats on the run! Good for you! The finish is what is important and you did it.
Did you wear your medal to work today? I would have!!
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to. It’s on my night stand now.
YES!!!! I am so proud and happy for you. You were a big chicken wussy with your tweets leading up to it, but I know you would tough it out and be the leader of TEAM AWESOME! Love ya to pieces.
Chicken wussy…ha ha! What can I say, I don’t deal well with nervous tummy. Couldn’t have done it w/o you lighting a bit ol’ fire under my arse.
I love the image of you in your medal. They are things to be proud of for sure! Congrats…
You are on bad ass!!!!! No really you so today when you talked about bad asses you are one! hugs!
You rock!! I’ll be thinking about you when I don’t feel like getting off of my ass next time!!
