The Clean Fifteen

I like to eat as organically minded as possible. It’s not the cheapest way to eat but it is my preferred way. Some people say they don’t notice a different in taste, texture or that they don’t worry about pesticides and stuff like that.

I do.

I also recognize that my family is on a very strict budget and it’s not always possible for me to buy everything organic or locally. I have to make decisions every week on where to spend our grocery money to stretch it as far as I can but also eat as healthy as I can. I rely very heavily on the dirty dozen/clean fifteen principle.

The clean fifteen foods are those that have been found to have the lowest pesticide residue on them. It varies from year to year how the foods will rank and some foods that are considered clean one year may cross over to be “dirty” the next.
