How has everyone’s week gone? My week has been full of adjustments. Adjusting to getting up at 5:30 in the morning. Adjusting to wearing something other than sweats or pj’s all day long. Adjusting to being away from Fit Boy during the day. Adjusting to working again. Adjusting to working out at the work gym again (that’s a fantastic adjustment that I’ve been loving!)
For those not keeping track…that’s a lot of adjusting.
I’m not one to shy away from change but I can’t say that I handle it well all the time. I’m very gung-ho and enthusiastic, especially when it comes to a challenge. But this time, it’s a bit different. For reasons I’m not going to go into (because you never know who’s going to read your blog after all), this adjustment period has been very challenging and the main reason for that, is that I don’t have much support in the sense that there are things that I don’t know how to do because I am in a different area now and need to be taught. The problem being, no one is teaching me.
So why do I bring this up? Not because I want sympathy, because truthfully, I don’t. I know it will get better and I will teach myself what I need to learn. If I get in trouble for being slow at getting things done, I’m not in the wrong. And if I get fired…then I get to be home again
I bring this up because of how important support is in any area of our lives. We can’t always do everything, be everything, learn everything on our own. Not only do we need to be supportive of one another, we also need to accept help/support when it is offered. Sure, we can achieve things with no support but it takes longer and is a much less enjoyable ride.
Question: What motivates you to get going and what keeps you going?
Whenever I don’t move, I feel sluggish, out of sorts and out of focus. Just knowing how good I’ll feel after a good hard sweat is enough to get me going. I’ve never had a day that I’ve gotten up and moved that I haven’t said “I’m so glad I did that” after. So much better than saying “I wish I’d gotten up and moved”

Changes can be SO difficult after baby, so more power to you for being able to keep up with it all! I’m a stay-at-home mom, but life can be just as rough as working full-time. I’m also starting on the 5:30am routine, otherwise there’s no time to get that much-needed workout in my day. I hope this week yields a little bit of relief from the stress!
Prior to baby when I worked in environmental consulting I had a few tasks that were outside my scope of training and it sucked playing catch-up on the job. It stressed me the heck out but you learn fast… sink or swim I guess. Good luck and I hope that you are feeling supported in some areas of your life (even if it is at least a killer fitting bra!) xoxo
You got that right, Steph! Support is KEY in so many areas of our lives. I hate that you don’t have the support at your job. But you’re right. You’re smart, you can definitely figure it out. If they don’t like it, tough! LOL!
Love you, girl!
Support really does make even the worst situations bearable… and sometimes enjoyable? Have you found any workout or lunch walking buddies at your new job? I hope things get better, but with readjustment it might take a little while to get adjusted. Then you can thrive!
Have a great week. Change can be good, just keep your eyes open for the positive.
I remember adjusting a lot when I had my first while working, but I only had 3 months off.
I feel for you in the job department. That’s exactly what happened to my husband in his last job. He had no one to teach him and a lot of calls asking for reports he didn’t know he had to do, but he finally figured it out in time to leave for a great promotion…so good luck sticking with it.
You are an awesome woman that can tackle any challenge thrown at you one way or another.
I love the great attitude you have. It’s congatious and in a good way! Thanks for sharing the attitude and support!
That’s a great attitude! I know how overwhelming a whole bunch of changes can be when they all come at the same time. You made it through this week and it’s only going to get better from here!
