C is for Commit…to change
Welcome back to my breakdown of my Healthy Living Alphabet!
It starts with 2 simple words:
I’m ready.
Ready to take those first steps toward changing your unhealthy habits and making new ones.
But how serious are you about these changes? They aren’t going to be easy. And let’s face it, some of them are going to be downright scary (I mean, have you seen what passes as gym shorts these days? Eeks!).
The thing that you need to understand is that no change can happen without commitment. You have to do more than want or need to change. You have to own that decision and accept everything that will need to change in the life you’re currently leading. You’re going to be forced out of your comfort zone. You’re going to have days when you don’t even want to get out of bed, let alone put on your workout clothes and get a sweat going. Let’s be real, if it was easy, we’d all be prancing around in skin tight booty shorts high-fiving each other while we loaded 100lbs on the squat rack.
So what does it take to succeed?
Commitment.
You may need to commit every day, sometimes twice a day and you know what? That’s ok. We all slip, stumble, fall off the wagon and get run over by it. Life happens. We can’t always control our circumstances but we can control how we react and behave when things don’t always go as expected.
Commit to the changes you need to make. Every day. And do it willingly, graciously and proudly.
Change is hard. Committing to it is harder. Do it, and you’ll hit heights you never imagined.
