I’ve done it. I have officially committed to running a half marathon. I’ve even included a countdown widget on my front page so we can all countdown to Fit Mom’s 13.1 miles of agony together! *throws confetti*.
I have until May 1st to train. This is PLENTY of time and I know I could be ready sooner but there’s one little catch for me…I hate winter. I don’t like being cold and I don’t like running in the dark. So imagine, if you will my next few months: The sun is gone by dinner time and will soon be gone an hour earlier. It is cold here in winter. Like don’t go outside or risk turning into a human freezie if you do, cold. I am determined to run through the winter, doing all of my long runs outside. This is a scary, scary thought for me. But I am determined. I’ve even signed up for a 5k resolution run on January 1st to help get me in the “mood” to run outside.
I am going to do my best to blog the good, the bad and the ugly (just like I do most things in my life) of this training journey. I’m hoping to start bringing my phone with me so I can take a few pictures along my running routes (it will double as a good way for the police to backtrack their way to my home when they find me unconscious and frozen in a snow bank). In short. Let’s go on this journey together.
Who’s with me?

Please be safe at night!!! Go places that are very public!!
Excited to see your progress, baby!!
you are going to do awesome good luck with your training, so proud of you for making this commitment

Woohoo!! Hehe – my blackberry froze to a blank screen at last year’s resolution run.
Way to make that commitment! You rock! I am very excited to be able to follow along with you as you train. I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures from the route, but hopefully the police don’t need those.
I’m in! Baby Amber & I are going to train for the Toronto Women’s Half Marathon (end of May). I can’t wait to follow your training! You’ll be awesome!
Congrats on the goal! You’ll do great! I will be following your post closely to see how the winter running goes. I hate being cold. Isn’t it funny how those of us in the colder areas still live here even though we complain about the cold. You would think we get use to it but cold is cold. If you find some nice cold weather gear, please share. Pretty please. Be safe running at night now that it is darker sooner.
