Fitness Coffee-Review

When I started seeing people Tweeting about Fitness Coffee, I was intrigued. After all, there are countless opinions about coffee, which is better for you, how much is too much and so forth. I know that I switched to Decaf thinking that this was the best option for me, given that I always suffered from such horrendous coffee crashes. So you can imagine me doing my best Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson eyebrow raise when seeing that the words Fitness and Coffee where in fact, purposely being put together to create this 100% natural product, loaded with antioxidants.

I read a few reviews and the feed back was positive. I also looked into the studies, what they put in the coffee and what their coffee does for the body. You can find all this information on their website. Naturally, my curiosity got the best of me and I contacted the company and they graciously agreed to send me a sample to review.

At first, I was weary. I mean, it looked like coffee. But it didn’t smell like coffee. My grandparents and my mom were fanatic coffee drinkers when I was younger and as previously mentioned, I am a coffee lover myself. I KNOW what coffee smells like and this was different. Not that it smelt bad…just different. I immediately feared that it would fall victim to the “good for you but so bad you’ll need to chase it down with a chocolate bar” stigma that many healthy (and just as many not-so-healthy…Ketchup chips…I’m looking directly at you) foods fall victim to. I approached with caution and an open mind and took that first fateful sip. It definitely tasted different. But, sometimes different can be a good thing. The first thing I noticed was that it was not bitter the way coffee is. Granted, I did put some creamer in it but even so, it had a refreshing taste to it. Over the next few days, I gradually decreased the creamer until I was using almond milk only. There was a bit of a bitter taste but honestly, this is one of the few coffees I can drink with little to no extras in it.

The next thing I noticed was that I wasn’t getting the awful crashes I always got from standard coffee (whether or not I put cream or sugar in it). I actually felt good after drinking it and didn’t suddenly walk face first into a wall a few hours later. I was pleasantly surprised. This alone will make me a long term drinker. The fact that it is all natural and full of antioxidants only increases my excitement.

As for the weight loss benefits, I really can’t comment on that because I am not trying to lose weight. That’s not to say that it doesn’t aid. The studies on the website clearly show a trend toward weight reduction when used over a 3 month period in addition to a healthy lifestyle. I do feel that I have more energy to workout and to get done the things that I have to during the day, including keeping up with my high maintenance 7 month old son. At this point, I have no reason to doubt that this coffee does much more for me than your average cup of Joe. I’m already looking forward to my next steaming cup tomorrow morning.

So my conclusion? I like this product. I recommend it and I will continue to drink it as my morning kick in the pants. I suggest you do the same!

  1. Hmmm — I need to check these guys out — there have been so many people talking about it. Wonder if they make a K-cup version for my Keurig. . . .
